"See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land that the LORD swore he would give to your fathers--to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob--and to their descendants after them."
-Deut. 1:8
Frederick A. Landy was born on October 23rd in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Mr. Allen and Mrs. Tarrela L. Landy-Dunbar; he is the eldest grandchild of the late great Rev. Sheldonia E. Landy-Brown, his maternal grandmother. Landy has been God-anointed and appointed in music ministry ever since he was around the age of three and a half, as recognized by his family. Throughout Landy's childhood he was a part of his home church, the Thankful Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Windsor, SC, Youth Choir. This really developed him greatly in seeing what it really means to worship the Lord through song and to minister to the broken-hearted. The first solo Landy ever sung was Amazing Grace (traditional version) and it was at his Pastors second church, Silver Spring Missionary Baptist Church, Williston, SC at the age of nine years old. Once that occurred many more engagements came about where Landy was invited to sing a solo. A prominent figure during his childhood through teenage years was the late Rev. Alfred Holmes of the Mt. Anna Baptist Church, Aiken, SC. It was he who would always ask Landy to sing a solo when attending revivals or regular worship services thus bringing about What God has for me, it is for me as his second song of choice when singing solos.
A noted encounter that Landy had was at the age of ten years old, and it was when the Godfather of Soul, the late James Brown, offered him a record deal and exposure from the label he was under through radio broadcasts. As the years rolled on Landy and a close aunt, Ms. Deonna Brown, begin to do duets which in turn brought about engagements at various churches and civic arenas in the Aiken, SC/Augusta, GA area. All glory to God!
During this time, his home church established a Young Adult Choir in the early 2000s and though Landy was still on the newly named Junior Choir and only in his teens, he was allowed to be an honorary member until turning eighteen. This went on for about three years and a half and during this time he became the Praise Warrior or Worship Leader for five years (2005-2010) at his home church. With having advanced musically, manifestations were at an all time high for him. During this time, Landy received a diploma in General Christian Studies from the A.F. Bible School, Roseville, CA on July 25, 2005 in which he had been attending for a year (2004-2005).
On September 13, 2005, which was around the same time his mother was diagnosed with cancer, Landy wrote his first real gospel song entitled, On this journey, which has yet to be recorded. Little did he know that God was awakening the songwriting ability that was placed in him before he was formed in his mothers womb! Throughout the time his mother was going through chemo-therapy, song after song was just flowing out of Landy.
During that time, it marked his last year of high school at the South Aiken High School, Aiken, SC, where he is a 2006 graduate. Though his mother did not see him graduate, be it that she deceased February 22, 2006, Landy kept believing in God and took on understanding Romans 8:28, And we know that God causes all things to work together for the good of them who love him and are called according to his purpose.
With graduating from high school, Landy had already been accepted into college at the University of South Carolina Aiken, Aiken, SC. He entered in the fall of 2006 and studied for two years, Music Performance vocal as a major. He received countless and very enlightening vocal instruction from the best in the Department of Visual & Performing Arts: Professor Isaac Holmes, studios: Mrs. Tonya Currier and Mrs. Martha Zakkary. Landy went through recitals and vocal juries required to sing many diverse musical compositions, yet having room for commonly known ones. Having been involved with the University's official concert choir, it really was an experience that catapulted Landy to understand how to properly enunciate various songs and definitely how to attack a song by way of posture and breathing. In 2007, Landy received recognition by the University's Department of Visual & Performing Arts as being a notable member of the concert choir. Landy was also a member of the Voices of Praise Gospel Choir at the University for two years.
Though much was accomplished in Landy's two years of Music Performance vocal studies, he did not see that to be the field of study to get a degree in and rather, with much respect to the Department, he changed his major and studied psychology with a concentration in sociology and eventually graduated with induction on May 06, 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of South Carolina Aiken. Still yet, music will always be in Landy and even during his college years God begin to advance him in playing the keyboard. Landy did not play before an audience outside of home, until God blessed him with his first gospel cd project, Focus on Jesus 2009, with DunbarEntainment Productions, founded by a childhood friend, Mr. Jermaine Dunbar. This brought about being featured in the University of South Carolina Aikens newspaper, The Pacer Times and also the local newspaper, The Aiken Standard. Through this, Landy established Landy's Gospel Creations-LGC which is a Christian non-profit organization that can be found at www.lgc.spruz.com.
Landy has received much musical exposure from local, regional and national recording artist and groups. February of 2010 Landy became an established member as a singer & songwriter in the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP). All Glory goes to God, for the Word of God declares in Psalm 98:1, Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm has worked salvation for him.
Beyond all of the accomplishments, honors and accolades of this educator, recording singer & songwriter, entrepreneur, son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, they all do not compare to the day Landy accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and received true Sanctification through being filled with the precious Holy Ghost. Seeing that on August 09, 2009, Landy was licensed to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, at his home church, it is his mission through preaching and singing to make it known that Jesus Christ is soon to return and now is the time to get our houses in order!
Landy has recently earned a Master of Arts degree in Leadership from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan USA and also has over ten (10) years of experience in secondary and post-secondary education. He has been a Youth Counselor (Middle School), 4th grade teacher to even a College & Career Advisor & Professor all spanning from South Carolina to Michigan USA.
Landy has had the privilege to serve, over a year and a half as the senior pastor of an inner-city, multiracial, non-denominational church by the name of Christ-faith Bible Center located in Northeast Grand Rapids, Michigan. He also has previously served as the worship leader and Associate Pastor of Sovereign Word of Life Ministries International, Southeast Grand Rapids, Michigan and the pastor of Praise Tabernacle of Prayer located in the heart of the city of Aiken, South Carolina.
Educationally wise, Landy has, as of Fall 2023, obtained the highest degree that any one can receive, a Ph.D. where his is in Education. Landy's next steps are to continue in the field of education through life-skills coaching for high school and first-year college - trade school students, volunteering his time in mentoring the 7th & 8th grade boys of a program from one of his brotherhoods, overseeing his non-profit, Landy's Gospel Creations-LGC with its various affiliates, initiatives and extensions, and last, but not least to continue making strides to advance within the entertainment and music industry as the 'music connoisseur'.
