It is the mission of the Frederick A. Landy Scholarship to provide some financial aid, beginning with the Class of 2018, to the recipient of the Thoroughbred Award out of each graduating class of the South Aiken High School located in Aiken, South Carolina. This is with the belief that he or she is looking to further his or her education through going to a college/university or a trade school of some sort. Since 2020, this mission has now evolved and expanded, as given in the purpose.
It is the purpose of the Frederick A. Landy Scholarship to be a source of encouragement and inspiration to each recipient. It is through the above mission that Mr. Frederick A. Landy, the 2006 recipient of the Thoroughbred Award out of his graduating class at South Aiken, looks to provide a scholarship to commemorate the achievements of the student either receiving the "Thoroughbred Award" in South Carolina, having been a previous junior M.A.L.E.S. young brother from Michigan or specially picked, globally, by Mr. Landy himself.
With the scholarship, in memory of Mr. Landy's maternal grandmother who, along with his grandfather, raised him, the recipient out of each graduating class will receive the Rev. Sheldonia Brown Medal of Achievement as a 'token'.
*ESTABLISHED/BEGAN in the Spring of 2018 awarding the Thoroughbred Award recipient out of the Class of 2018 from his high school alma mater, South Aiken High School in Aiken, South Carolina USA.
Mr. Landy's 'named' scholarship does not discriminate upon: race, culture, religion or sex. Also, the amount to be given each year can change without prior notification.
